Police today said they were linking robberies in Sandwell and Dudley after he struck for a third time in under a month just before 10am yesterday at the West Bromwich Building Society, Walsall Road, Stone Cross, West Bromwich.

He threatened staff with what appeared to be a gun before taking cash. He is believed to have escaped in a white transit van after running out.

On Wednesday he threatened staff with a gun concealed in a bag at the West Bromwich Building Society, Cape Hill, Smethwick, just before 5pm but a staff member raised the alarm and he fled empty-handed.

Officers link raids with a Christmas Eve raid at the Royal Bank of Scotland, Dudley High Street. Staff were threatened with a handgun and cash taken.

Police say he wore a high-visibility fluorescent padded jacket with a logo resembling a square with a roof over it and the letters TTY. This week he had a sleeveless high-visibility jacket under a work hat to cover his hair.

He is black, about 6ft, and of heavy build.
