Staff at 2 Sisters Food Group, which has sites in West Bromwich, Smethwick and Wolverhampton, will be staging three days of 24-hour strikes - starting at 6am next Friday.

The second will take place on December 18 and the third on December 21.

There will also be a continuous overtime ban.

Union Unite balloted its members at the Bevan Way site in Smethwick, the Dial Lane site in West Bromwich and the Lincoln Street plant in Wolverhampton.

It is against a pay rise offer of 20p an hour, when most earn £6.22 an hour – compared to a national minimum wage of £6.19 – and shift patterns for proposed seven days a week.

Company spokesman Andrew Hanson said: "We're very disappointed that Unite has voted to reject our above inflation pay offer and opt for industrial action."
