Parcel firm GeoPost UK has launched a recruitment drive ahead of its Christmas rush with the firm looking to take on more than 150 temporary workers.
It comes after the firm announced it will also be recruiting 80 full-time workers in the next few months.
Christmas is traditionally the busiest time of year for the Smethwick company and this year bosses are expecting to process up to 650,000 packages a night.
They are looking for people to fill temporary vacancies for drivers and sorters as well as IT technicians.
The 80 full-time vacancies are mainly for drivers but bosses are also seeking sorters as well as people who can work in HR and marketing. GeoPost UK's director of central operations Charlie Shiels said they were delighted to be investing in the region.
"We appreciate and understand the environment we are in," he said.
"It's nice to have our offices here and to be putting something back in to the local community."
In the run up to Christmas last year GeoPost UK, the parent company of DPD and Interlink Express, sorted 1.6 million parcels in just three days. The figures were 15 per cent higher than in the same period the previous year, when just over 1.39m parcels were processed.
This time it is expected to be even busier as the company continues to benefit from the growth of internet shopping.
Bosses say the recruitment drive has been made possible as a result of the growing reputation of the company and innovations such as the Predict service.
Introduced last year, it gives home shoppers a one-hour delivery window so they do not have to wait all day for a parcel.
