Up to 70 new jobs will be created after plans for a new McDonald's was approved for Rugeley.

The new drive-through restaurant to seat 85 diners is to be built on derelict land near the town centre after Cannock Chase Council's planning committee unanimously backed plans last night.

Tesco has recently been given consent to build a supermarket at the site, off the A51 roundabout on Power Station Road.

McDonald's was also given permission for an outside seating area and car park at the location, part of Towers Business Park on the former Lea Hall Colliery.

Cannock South councillor John Kraujalis said:?"It would be sandwiched between Tesco and Amazon and a hotel - it can only enhance Rugeley.
