A murder probe has been launched after the body of an elderly woman was discovered at a cottage in Bewdley.
The woman, in her 70s, was found dead at the property on a track between Dowles Road and the River Severn.
West Mercia Police said officers attended the address after a friend of the pensioner was unable to contact her and became concerned for her welfare.
Detective Chief Inspector Tony Love said: "An elderly woman has lost her life in the most tragic of circumstances.
"It's vital that anyone who has information that could help our inquiries comes forward immediately."
