New-born Zachary weighs in at over 13lb

Little Zachary Huxtable is anything but, because after weighing in at a whopping 13lb 11oz, he is one of the biggest babies ever born in the West Midlands.

He weighed more than twice the average weight of a normal baby when he arrived at Birmingham Women's Hospital. Mother Rosie Hall delivered him naturally, without any pain relief, last Thursday. And proud father Matthew Huxtable, aged 19, could barely believe his eyes.

Midwives at the hospital were so shocked they weighed him twice. Already Zachary is wearing clothes meant for babies aged six to nine months old.

Mother and baby are due to return home to their Smethwick home tomorrow.
