Family left shocked by theft

Remembrance plaques and ornaments dedicated to the memory of a grandmother have been stolen from the garden of a Black Country home, leaving relatives distraught.

Family members woke to discover the theft of the precious items placed in honour of grandmother Olive Verrill, who died 13 years ago at the age of 66, from the front garden of their house, in Norwood Road, Brockmoor, Brierley Hill, over the weekend.

Grandaughter Terri-Anne Verrill, aged 24, said she, her 17-year-old sister Olivia and mother Samantha were devastated.

"They aren't of any great value in terms of money, it's the sentimental value more than anything," she said.

Two inscribed stone plaques were stolen as well as three silver solar lights and three candle holders.

The family believe the items were taken sometime between 10pm on Friday and 5am on Saturday.

Police are investigating.
