A body has been discovered in a disused commercial unit in Smethwick.

Police are investigating, after the body a man was found in a building in Foundry Lane.

Officers said it is too early to say whether the death is being treated as suspicious.

Sam Bates, spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "We were alerted to the body by a member of the public at an unused commercial premises in Foundry Lane.

"Detectives are carrying out investigations to determine cause of death."

The body was discovered at 11am yesterday. Foundry Lane was closed at its junction with Rabone Lane and its junction with Woodburn Road.Cordons were expected to be lifted this morning.
