Luke Walker: Kiss then I never saw Chelsea Hyndman again

Five months after being arrested for a crime he insists he did not commit, Luke Walker has spoken for the first time about the final moments of the girl he called his "angel".
Walker, aged 22, from Brierley Hill, has spent the past 150 days behind bars in Crete, accused of beating girlfriend Chelsea Hyndman, aged 20, to death.
Speaking exclusively to the Express & Star after being released on bail, he told of how they had shared a tender kiss before she went into the operating room, and she thanked him for looking after her.
"As I left her, I kissed her and said 'I'll be waiting right here when you wake up'," he said tearfully.
"But she never did. That was the last time I saw her alive."
He said he and other friends had tried to convince Miss Hyndman to see a doctor following a nasty fall on a girls' night out the week before.
"I asked her a number of times if she wanted to see a doctor or go to hospital, and our friends did too," he said.
"She would just say to give it a couple of days and she'd feel better. She thought it was a hangover or sunstroke or something.
"Then one day I just said to her, 'get ready, I'm taking you to the medical centre, you've been ill too long now'. All our friends said I was doing the right thing."
The doctor at the medical centre, concerned over the severity of her abdominal pain, then referred her to a hospital in the island capital Heraklion.
"They thought it was food poisoning at first, and we were sat joking about where she could have got it from," Walker said. "We were debating who was the worst cook and blaming them. She seemed fine."
Then, following examinations, doctors told her she had to have an operation, though he said they refused to tell him what it was for.
She died the following day.
He said he had waited for hours outside the room, knocking on the door and trying to speak to doctors, to no avail.
"Suddenly these two police officers came along and took me away. They didn't tell me what had happened to her until a while afterwards."
