A letter of support from Chelsea Hyndman's family could be presented to the Greek courts to try and help clear the name of her Black Country boyfriend, who is accused of her murder.
Miss Hyndman, aged 21, had been dating 22-year-old Luke Walker, from Brierley Hill, for three years before she died of ruptured internal organs while trying to find summer work in Malia, Crete.
Walker's father Patrick today said a letter from Chelsea's mother Heather, aged 45, could prove valuable in convincing the authorities that his son is innocent.
Mr Walker travelled to Crete with his wife Lindy and elder son Ryan when they heard of Luke's arrest, but is currently back at home to liaise with solicitors in this country.
He said must wait for the coroners reports from the two post mortems carried out in the UK to be released and officially translated into Greek before he can return.
"The family will be writing a letter for us, they have told us we will be getting that," he said.
"It won't be just yet as they are still grieving for Chelsea, but they will be giving us their support. They have nothing against Luke, they are a lovely family."
Mr Walker attended Miss Hyndman's funeral yesterday in her home town of Castleford, where he said around 600 people turned up to say goodbye to the popular party girl.
"The church was packed, and there were people standing at the back as well," he added.
"It was a beautiful ceremony. I just wish Luke could have been there — he always did everything he could for Chelsea, he loved her so much and he should have been able to say goodbye."
Miss Hyndman, a former pupil of Castleford High School, was admitted to hospital in Heraklion suffering from severe abdominal pain. She died the next day after an emergency operation.
Walker was charged with murder by Greek police who allege he beat her to death. But he claims she was injured when she fell heavily on a beer glass during a girls' night out.
Walker's uncle Danny Walker, of Brierley Hill, said:"We have been up to Chelsea's house and the family have welcomed us all in, they don't hold a grudge against us."
