A woman who ran a brothel from a flat opposite the main entrance to Stafford prison has been jailed for 18 months.

Jurors convicted mother-of-one Sandra Williams of conspiracy to keep the brothel in Sash Court, where punters paid £60 for half an hour of sex with prostitutes.

But the man behind the scheme – businessman Philip Kilday, who gave evidence against Williams at her trial, failed to turn up at Stafford crown court to be sentenced. Kilday, 49, of Barry, South Wales, admitted conspiracy and will be sentenced at a later date.

Williams, 58, of Hempstalls Lane, Newcastle-under-Lyme was also found guilty, along with former teacher Robert Worrall and his son Simon, of conspiracy to keep another brothel under the guise of a massage parlour in Birmingham.

Robert Worrall, 57 of Grove Road, Stoke-on-Trent, was also jailed for 18 months while his son Simon, aged 29, also of Grove Road, was given a nine month prison sentence suspended for two years with 250 hours of unpaid community work.

Sentencing them Judge John Maxwell said: "It's plain to me Kilday was the financial director of the Sash Court business, but you Williams were involved in the day to day management."
