A storage firm in Staffordshire is asking customers to make a Christmas donation to brighten up the festive season for children in hospital.
Todd Cornehls, the manager of Your Self Store on Hyssop Close, Cannock, is decorating a Christmas tree at his unit with gifts that will be given to children from the area who are staying in or visiting hospital over Christmas. He has teamed up with Janet Kite, who runs her own gift business at the storage unit, who is offering toys and books at cost price for supporters.
Mr Cornehls hopes to fill the tree at work with gifts by the middle of December. They will then be distributed to youngsters at Stafford Hospital, which treats children from the Cannock and Stafford area.
Mr Cornehls said: "Christmas is all about children and we just want to send a bit of festive cheer to kids who are in the unfortunate position of having to spend part or all of their Christmas away from home in hospital.
"We've already had a really great response with lot of presents on our tree but we still want more so we can give a great sack full of gifts to the kids."
Julie Milestone, a play specialist at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust, said: "With the number of gifts Your Self Store have already got we'll be able to hand out presents on the children's ward and in outpatients and accident and emergency, whereever there are children in the hospital. We're really grateful to the business and their supporters, it's really kind to think of the children in hospital and the presents will bring a real lift."
