A West Midland schoolboy has died after contracting meningitis, it emerged today.

A West Midland schoolboy has died after contracting meningitis, it emerged today.

Liam Keeling, aged 12, of Cheslyn Hay, died on Tuesday after being admitted to hospital. The youngster was a pupil at Cardinal Griffin School and played for Wyrley Juniors Under-13 Panthers, managed by his father Andy.

Co-manager of the team Sean Flaherty said: "We are all devastated. He was a diamond footballer. He was very polite, always said please and thank you."
