Classic car enthusiast Anthony Barrett has been left devastated by the theft of his fully-restored Ford A-Series fire engine, six Rolls-Royce chassis, a Toyota fork-lift truck and two Rolls-Royce engines, from the yard in Acorn Street, New Invention.

Burglars took everything in sight, and left Mr Barrett's storage container empty some time between 3pm on Friday and 3pm on Tuesday. Also taken was a car transporter trailer, a scaffold tower, galvanised fencing, two ornate wrought iron gates, 20lb, 50lb and 60lb weights, three tonnes of steel scrap, two 40V generators, a Panasonic radio, a portable TV, and a surfacing grinding machine.

Father-of-four Mr Barrett said: "It makes me so angry and annoyed. But all things are relative, I have still got my health and my family and kids."

The 42-year-old added: "I'm very surprised they got in, it's obviously not some kind of opportunism, they came equipped to get in and take everything. There were three substantial locks on the storage container and they broke all three of them."

Inspector Tony Banton, based at Willenhall police station, said: "We are investigating a burglary at a yard where classic cars and car parts were stolen over the weekend.

"Large vehicles would need to have been used to transport the stolen property and we urge anyone who saw activity at the site over the weekend to call with their information. We are also interested in hearing from anyone who has been offered these items for sale, or maybe even scrap."

Police are urging anyone who saw anything suspicious, or a white van with red writing in the area, to call 0845 113 5000.
