Staffordshire Police has won a prestigious national award for the third time after fighting off tough competition from public and private sector leaders.
The force's mobile data training team, led by Tracey Tyler, won both a regional and national award at the National Training Awards ceremony at the National Motorcycle Museum.
They were presented with the trophy by ITV Central Tonight presenter, Sameena Ali-Khan. The police team went forward as the top regional large employer entry.
It beat other entrants including Alton Towers and Coventry Building Society.
The category looked at which organisations were demonstrating commitment to training and development and how this is creating impact and achieving success.
Training manager Tracey, based at police headquarters, Stafford, will now attend the overall winner of the year gala ceremony in London in December.
"Winning a National Training Award brings with it a real sense of pride and kudos and demonstrates the force's commitment to training.
"We have proven that in today's current climate, high quality training is an integral part of personal development.
"The National Training Awards are known as the training industry's Oscars and we are delighted to be recognised.
"The competition this year was really tough which makes winning a real achievement," she said.
Hand-held mobile data devices were rolled out across the force during late 2008 as a result of Home Office funding.
Around 2,000 officers were issued with them and trained in their use.
All force computer systems can be accessed through them removing the need for officers to return to the station to complete paperwork.
This allows officers to have a greater visible presence in communities.
Simon Bartley, chief executive of UK Skills which manages the National Training Awards, said: "The winners in the West Midlands have demonstrated that training is an investment not a cost and that it can transform companies, careers and communities.
"I congratulate them on what they have achieved."
