Pub reopens after £180,000 refurb

The New Talbot, formerly the Talbot Inn, in Main Road, has re-opened following a refurbishment.

David Trotman, who owns the pub with Clive Greaves, said that regulars had given a thumbs-up to the new look.

"The New Talbot is a free house and we are initially offering two guest real ales. We hope to build a reputation as a pub for good beer," he added.

Mr Trotman and Mr Greaves have run a dozen pubs over the years including The Bull and Spectacles at Blithbury, The Prince of Wales, Rugeley and The Horns at Slitting Mill.

Mr Trotman said the pub had faced being demolished after it was closed by pub chain Enterprise Inns last year and was set to be de-licensed, with the likelihood of being sold off for housing.

The new owners have spent around £180,000 refurbishing it.
