A fire sparked by a faulty central heating boiler spread through upstairs rooms at a Brierley Hill pub.

Firefighters from Brierley Hill and Stourbridge were called to The Waterloo pub in Mill Street at 11.20pm yesterday. Only a few drinkers remained in the pub and left the building as soon as the fire was detected.

Fire crews said the blaze had been accelerated as redecorating work was taking place and doors had been left open to help the paint dry. Two rooms were badly damaged.
