Dan Clamp, aged 23, of Church Gresley; Pete Howell, 44, of Rugeley; Ian Emmerson, 39, of Burton upon Trent; and Dave Biddle, 30, of Burntwood, are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge on July 18 and 19.

The quartet, employees of Lichfield International Freight Terminal in Burton, will aim to climb Ben Nevis, in Scotland, Scafell Pike, in England, and Snowdon, in Wales, to raise money for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.

"Originally, we were planning to go down the usual route and get our heads shaved or legs waxed, but we decided we should take on something a bit more challenging and really push ourselves.

"The Air Ambulance is a really worthy cause, which relies solely on donations, so to be able to help them in any way we can is great," said Dan.

The challenge will involve 25 miles of walking, a total climb height of 10,000ft and a distance of some 450 miles travelling to and from the mountains.

The group have been busy putting in the hours of training, running, cycling, walking and rowing needed to make sure their bodies are in the right condition to complete the challenge.

"Dave is cycling to work and back every day – a round trip of 40 miles," said Ian.

Team members will be doing a practice climb of Scafell Pike in the Lake District this weekend and Snowdon on May 31. "The hardest parts will be combating the sleep deprivation, coping with the tiredness and adjusting to the altitude, but we are all confident we will make it," added Dan.

Dan, Pete, Ian and Dave are hoping to raise more than £2,000.
