Job cuts expected at Virgin Media
Speculation was mounting that Virgin Media was on the verge of announcing major job cuts at its Brierley Hill offices, which employ around 800 people.

The company confirmed staff were being called to a meeting this afternoon but declined to comment further.
It is understood the meeting is in connection with Virgin's announcement in November that it would be axing 2,200 staff between now and 2010.
The offices on the Waterfront, formerly owned by Telewest, handled operational and call centre operations for the cable TV giant.
In March, the company announced it was axing 126 jobs at the Waterfront.
Virgin Media insisted this week it was increasing the number of customers for its television, broadband internet and telephone services.
