Anisha Mandal, aged eight, from Tettenhall Wood, turned her passion for craft work and jewellery making into a fundraiser for the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.

She was inspired to raise the cash to help the NHS after watching her mother, Kasturi Mandal, go to work throughout the pandemic as a consultant at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton.

Anisha said: "I decided to turn my hobby into something useful like fundraising for the NHS.

"My mum is a doctor and works for the local NHS Trust.

"I’d like to sell my jewellery online and offline to raise funds and I chose the NHS for supporting us all and working hard in the current pandemic."

Anisha, who also lives with her father Anand and sisters Anushka, two, and Aditi, 10 - who has raised thousands for the NHS through her custom paintings, has witnessed the effects of Covid-19 first hand, after her parents both contracted the illness before recovering.

The creative youngster is hoping to hold a fundraising stall in August, and hopes to fundraise at New Cross Hospital when it is safe to do so.

Anisha added: "I am making resin jewellery and I’ve used real dried flowers, leaves I’ve collected on my daily walks, sequins, glitter, various charms, beads and shells.

"I’m still new and learning to improve myself. I plan to make many more items like cards, coasters and cups."

So far she has raised more than £200 for the charity.

Donations can be made through her JustGiving website and orders can be placed through Anisha's Facebook page AniKrafts or emailing drkasturi_nanda@yahoo.com
