Exhibition showcases best local talent in Wolverhampton
A Wolverhampton-based art group has been demonstrating its works at an art exhibition.
Painting in Penn is a self-help group of amateur artists of different levels, operating four classes throughout the week.
Members are able to work at their own pace and learn to work with a range of different artistic mediums, including water colours, oil and acrylics.
The best works generated from these classes have formed the exhibition, which took place at the Civic Centre in Wolverhampton between March 2 and 6.
The exhibition was hosted by the Civic Centre as the regular venue for the group's exhibitions, the Civic Hall, is still closed for refurbishments.
Ronald Mottram, Painting in Penn Art Co-ordinator, praised the Civic Centre for the treatment he and the group had received.
He said: "Our local councillor Paul Singh suggested that we could bring the exhibition into the Civic Centre, which we did.
"The accommodations have been wonderful, in fact, first class and faultless whenever we wanted and I feel we have been given gold star treatments."
The exhibition features 55 pieces, ranging from landscapes to animal drawings and abstract personal photo portraits, with each artist using one of the different mediums learnt in the classes.
Ronald said each piece was a success and said he didn't show any preference for one particular painting, but rather wanted to showcase the best of the group.
He said: "It is a success and a labour of love at the same time. These people are dedicated to what they do, and they have put their best into the work."
