Wolverhampton Pride celebrations set to return
Wolverhampton Pride is set to return later this year.
The annual festival, that began in 2012, will take place on Saturday, October 10, from 12pm until 10pm.
The announcement coincides with ‘Rainbow Day’ - the last day of LGBT+ History Month which has been marked throughout February.
Wolves Pride, organised by City of Wolverhampton Council on behalf of Wolverhampton LGBT+ Alliance, is a day of celebration for the LGBT+ community and allies.
The 2020 festival will take place on and around St Peter’s Car Park adjacent to Wolverhampton Civic Centre and the University of Wolverhampton’s Wulfrun Campus in the city centre.
Leader of City of Wolverhampton Council, Cllr Ian Brookfield, said: “We wanted to announce the date of this year’s Wolves Pride nice and early so people could save the date. The last day of LGBT+ History Month seemed like an appropriate time to get the word out there.
“The city council is absolutely thrilled to once again be organising Wolves Pride on behalf of the LGBT+ Alliance. Last year’s event was amazing and this year will be even better. We will have loads of live music, food, drink and stalls – it will be one big party celebrating pride in being who you are.
“We will be announcing more details in the coming months, so watch this space.”
Kelly Walker-Reed, chair of the Wolverhampton LGBT+ Alliance said: “The Alliance is thrilled to be involved in the organisation of Pride 2020.
"We have listened to community thoughts and ideas and aim to deliver a Pride which is a true representation of what the people of Wolverhampton want.
