Released last Friday, Escape is the second single to be taken from the RnB singer's debut album Soulsearch - which is set to be dropped this summer.

Escape is powered by echoed percussion and features a softly powerful piano melody, with former The Ticket Unsigned page star Sophielou allowing her vocals to soar softly over the music.

It's a more emotive, downbeat number than some of her previous work and teases us that the record may have more of a sombre feel.

Sophielou returned to social media in early 2019 after a self-imposed hiatus with the hashtag #SoulsearchSeason - in support of her debut album.

It had supporters excited and paying attention, and she capitalised on that with its first single, Late Night Drive, which was featured on DJ Ace’s Everything RnB Show on BBC Radio 1xtra multiple times.

Escape is the follow up to that, and has been available on all digital outlets since Friday.

Talking about the single, she said: "It’s a track quite the opposite to Late Night Drive but holds strength in its own way. It is one of the most calming tracks from the project."

Accompanied with keys from Birmingham pianist Ashley Allen, Sophielou tells a "beautiful love story about two people escaping their realities to be with each other".

She helped to launch the new single with a support slot for S-X ather home city's Newhampton Arts Centre on Friday. Called S-X & Friends, it featured local artists giving the profits from the show to homeless charity The Good Shepherd Ministry.

After the show, she tweeted: "Legendary evening raising money for a great cause in Wolverhampton. Big up S-X for bringing me through. Sick crowd, sick vibes."
