Ladies' Day: Cast of Wolverhampton Grand show visit Dudley Zoo
Four famous faces soaked up the sun as they took a tour of Dudley Zoo ahead of their appearance in a new show.
Cheryl Fergison, best known for playing Heather in EastEnders, Emmerdale actress Deena Payne, Emma Rigby and Roisin O’Neill fed penguins and got accustomed to the Black Country accent during a visit to the zoo.
They are the stars of Ladies' Day which is running at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre from next week and follows the adventures of four fish factory workers who chase big money at a day at the races.
They got into character as they donned white coats and fed sprats to the Humboldt penguins.
The actresses took time out of rehearsals to enjoy an ice-cream on the zoo’s new beach, Ow Bin Ya Sands.
Amanda Whittington’s hit comedy features a live performance from chart-topping singer Tony Christie and zooms in on the work, love and life of Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda.
Cheryl said: “It’s been such a fun thing to do while we are getting ready for the production and good to see where some of our fish might end up.”
Deena added: “I’ve really enjoyed getting back to basics and being so close to nature. It’s been a big help hearing more of the local accent too.”
