Artist, Robot Cossey, will be showing off his unique style of art by creating a snail with a chainsaw as part of a line-up of activities at this year's festival. The free one day event, which celebrates the local environment, is in it's 12th year and will take place on May 12.

It will feature a variety of activities including meeting Freddie the hedgehog with West Midlands Hedgehog Rescue, a flight display, meeting South Staffordshire Beekeepers with their lives and seeing fossils with Lapworth Museum of Geology. It will be a chance to learn about natural wonders including how birds fly and how invertebrates tell us whether the rivers are healthy.

Wild About Perton chair Keith Elder said: "When the event started there was about 300 but in more recent years it has attracted over 1,500 people and we expect it to be the same this time round.

"It is a community event which is organised on a voluntary basis. It is going to be fun with an underlying serious purpose to engage with wildlife and the natural environment.

"Painting stones and hiding them outdoors for other people to find has been taking off lately so we will also be invited people to paint them and take them away to use. It is a great way to get children outside."

It will take place from 10am to 4pm at Perton Library and involves more than 20 organisations and projects.

It organised by Wild About Perton in collaboration with Perton Library and South Staffordshire Council.
