Knock-out night on the cards as Anthony Joshua heads to Wolverhampton
Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been announced as the star guest of a superhero-themed spectacle in Wolverhampton.
The boxing superstar will be making his Black Country debut this May for a Marvel's Black Panther special event, where he will be getting up close and personal with fans.
Tickets are on sale as of today - but hurry, as they will be snapped up fast.
Andy Sahota of ShowFighter is the man responsible for getting the boxing king to the city, working closely with Goldstar Promotions and Wolverhampton Racecourse.
Born and bred in Wednesfield, Andy said: "Anthony is a friend of ours, and I could have brought him to Birmingham but I wanted to get him back to Wolverhampton - as it's my home.
"Ever since I announced he's coming here the phone has been going mad."
Sports events organiser Andy runs ShowFighter himself and in the past has arranged sell-out shows starring other champion boxers Joe Calzaghe, Floyd Mayweather, and Tyson Fury.
He brought Anthony Joshua to Birmingham last year for an 'authentic Brazilian carnival' event, which proved a massive hit, with fans travelling from all across the nation to attend.
The 28-year-old boxer is currently the unified world heavyweight champion, having held the International Boxing Federation (IBF) title since 2016, and the World Boxing Association (WBA) (Super) and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) titles since 2017.
But all that could change tomorrow as he goes up against WBO title-holder Joseph Parker at Cardiff's Principality Stadium.
The night with Anthony Joshua will be held on May 18 at Wolverhampton Racecourse, where fans are promised a 'night they will never forget'.
Andy added: "It's going to be a night of glitz and glamour and black-tie. You get to meet Anthony Joshua - one of the greatest boxers around at the moment who sells-out at thousands of stadiums all over the world.
"There will be entertainment, African dancing, fire eaters, food, other celebrities too - although I can't say too much about that yet. It's going to be a night to remember."
Tickets start at £99. Visit showfighter.co.uk for tickets and more information.
