Francesca, who is also a writer and actress, has had sell-out shows around the world over the last 18 years - but says she can't wait to meet the kind-hearted people of the Black Country.

She will be performing at The Slade Rooms this evening (MON) alongside Brummie comedy character Barbara Nice, played by Janice Connolly, as part of Creative Black Country's Funny Things festival.

Speaking to the Express & Star, Francesca said: "I have friends in Wolverhampton and have done lots of shows in Birmingham, but this will be my first time of doing a show here, which is really exciting.

"I am really looking forward to it and can't wait to have interaction with the audience, I know that everyone will be friendly and warm."

The 39-year-old has cerebral palsy but prefers to describe herself as 'wobbly'.

In 2014 she released her best-selling book 'What The **** Is Normal?'

Speaking about the show, she added: "I will be talking to Janice about my book that came out in 2014 called What The **** Is Normal?! The book is about all the pressure on everyone to try and be normal and fit into this idea of an acceptable way to be.

"I think a lot of us struggle with that. But the book helps make people realise that everyone is different. But of course, there is always comedy in what I do, as that is the best way to tackle serious subjects.

"I have done shows with Janice before and she is a force of nature. It will be funny stuff."

Last year reports from the Office for National Statistics stated that Wolverhampton was the unhappiest place in the UK. But locals didn’t agree, and Creative Black Country set out to prove different, with a celebration of Black Country humour.

Talking about the survey, Francesca added: "That is just silly. Sometimes surveys are wrong like that and may have just caught a couple of people on a bad day.

"I know that it will be a really happy crowd without a doubt. And I am hoping there are not so many normal people in Wolverhampton!"
