Wolverhampton Civic Hall interim opening postponed as Placebo and Desi Rockstars shows fall through
Placebo have been forced to postpone their gig at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall this Saturday due to the singer experiencing vocal issues.
The show had been due to mark an interim reopening of the city centre venue during its £14.4 million revamp.
This short opening, which will see the Civic Hall host shows over the Christmas period - with the venue set to close again on January 1 next year for further works - will now begin on October 27, with a show by German comedian Henning Wehn.
This is due to a second show, Desi Rockstars (due to take place on October 26) being cancelled. This was cancelled due to 'unforseen circumstances'.
The Hall is expected to then fully reopen on October 15, 2018.
A statement on the Civic's website says Placebo have had to postpone their gig due to singer Brian Molko suffering from throat issues, which is affecting his vocal chords.
Organisers are currently looking into the possibility of rescheduling the show. Alternatively fans will be given full refunds.
'A further announcement relating to potential rescheduling will be made shortly,' says the statement.

"Dear fans and ticketholders,
"Placebo are very sorry to announce that they will be unable to play their show at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Saturday, October 21.
"Brian Molko saw a specialist ENT doctor who has confirmed that Brian is suffering from a throat problem which is affecting his vocal chords and he needs treatment and complete rest for the next few days.
"Brian said: 'The band and I are absolutely devastated and very sorry for the disappointment and great inconvenience caused by this unfortunate situation.
"'We really wanted to end our UK tour on a high to give thanks to our fans for your incredible support over the years.
"'It's very painful being unable to play so many shows and we are so sad to have let you all down."
"We would ask all ticketholders to hold onto their tickets whilst we look into the possibility of rescheduling these dates. Alternatively fans will be able to get a full refund from point of purchase.
"Refunds will be available from 10am Monday, October 23.
"A further announcement relating to potential rescheduling will be made shortly."
