Bridgnorth Mayor Ron Whittle is organise a Vintage Ball to be held at the Punch Bowl Inn, Bridgnorth, with his wife Carol Whittle

The event is being organised by Mayor Ron Whittle and will take place at the Punch Bowl Inn in Ludlow Road on September 16.

It will help raise money for his chosen charities the Bridgnorth Hospital League of Friends, Bridgnorth Boy Scouts and Bridgnorth Girl Guides.

Tickets are priced at £30 each and available from the Mayor himself or at the council offices.

Around 70 places have been sold already but Mr Whittle hopes more will turn out to support the event.

He said: "It's an informal vintage ball covering the 40s, 50s and 60s and will include a three course carvery dinner, live music and will raise money for the Mayor's charities.

"I hope people will have a really good time in a very relaxed atmosphere. One or two little activities will be on the cards and there will be a auction with a few very nice prizes.

"I'm hoping it will be a nice and really friendly night. We've already sold about 70 tickets and we hoping to get rid of the rest to really pack out the venue.

"All of the charities are local and we have done various things to support the Hospital League of Friends in the past. I'm an ex-boy scout so that goes without saying!"
