Wolvesfest 2017: Hundreds of music fans rock out to local bands

The third annual Wolvesfest helped raise funds for Wolverhampton Rugby Club and attracted around 800 visitors.

Two stages were set up in a 1,000 capacity marquee at the rugby, with a total of 14 local bands performing.

Among the West Midlands groups to take to the stage were The Boston Shakers, The Assist, Wolfslang and Rhythm Dogs.

Harry & The Howlers also performed, and said afterwards: "Amazing crowd at last nights Wolves Fest! Thanks to all those involved."

Of Kings and Castle wrote on Facebook after the event: "WolvesFest was fantastic. Thanks for having us!! ... Now where's that aftersun!"

Money raised at the event will go to the rugby club and the development of its age group teams.

Festival director Shaun Ryan said: "It was the best one we've had so far in our three years of doing it.

"The weather was incredible which helped and meant loads of people were outside.

"Everyone had a great time, it was very family orientated.

"We were lucky the bands we had were all superb, the Boston Shakers who headlined were incredible and I think they made an awful lots of fans.

"Everything went well on the day – it was brilliant."

Mr Ryan said the event will be back next year, 'bigger and better'.

Nick J Townsend, who helped Mr Ryan organise the event, said on Facebook: "Third year in a row we rocked Wolverhampton with WolvesFest.

"Obviously big thanks to all the performers on the bill and to the crowd but my ultimate respect to Shaun Ryan for his hard work. See you again next year."

There were also food stalls, children's and adult inflatables including inflatable Lazer Quest and un-climbable walls.
