Walsall grandmother, 61, publishing first book this month

Author June Richardson, 61, of Walsall, has penned a children's book called Tales of Bluebell Wood, which tells the story of a group of characters who must save their home.

She has been writing all her life but this is the first book she has published.

The tale has taken Ms Richardson two years to write. Originally, she had no intentions to make a book but her husband contacted publishers. She writes under the pen name Sandy Davis.

Tales of Bluebell Wood is set to be published on November 30 priced at £9.99.

She said: "It is the first book I have published. I have been writing stories all of my life.

"The book is aimed at children aged 8 and older where their parents can read it to them.

"It has got all different characters - fairies, goblins, dragons and mermaids. It is about a group of characters who live in the woods. They form together to protect themselves from destruction.

"The theme running through the book is about the protection of their home.

"I think all kinds of children will enjoy reading it."

She is excited for the day of publication however Ms Richardson admitted Covid has impacted on this.

"I am looking forward to the release day but there won't be much of a celebration due to Covid," she said.

She has other work planned in the pipeline and other stories to follow her first book.

Ms Richardson writes for a hobby. Any personal profit made from book sales will go to Children In Need.
