Walsall couple enjoy at-home bar during lockdown
A woman from Walsall has created the perfect home bar set up during lockdown.
Despite the nation’s best efforts to recreate the great British pub during lockdown, using backgrounds from their locals on platforms like Zoom and Houseparty, some people have taken it one step further and are installing bars and pubs into their own homes.
Kerry Welsh, who lives in Bloxwich with her husband Simon, 52 and their two children Shayne, 8, and Alife, 5, has been able to pop out for a drink or two without breaking the Government's rules on lockdown at the private bar her husband has built in her own back garden.
Equipped with Carlsberg on tap, a selection of spirits and even pork scratchings, this Bloxwich-based boozer is making friends, family and neighbours jealous.
Kerry said: "We got the bar three years ago as an anniversary present, initially I wanted a hot tub but we decided on a bar instead.
"As my husband Simon is a joiner by trade he has built on it in the last three years, added a proper roof and a toilet and made it into Kerry's Bar."
The bar is decorated with hanging glasses, vintage signs and twinkling neon fairy lights outside.
Kerry added: "Everyone's jealous saying it's not fair we're in lockdown and you have your own bar and we can't come over.
"When lockdown is over we're planning to have a little party, I normally have a few girls round on a Friday night, we start here at Kerry's Bar and then head into town."
Kerry has entered her creation into Liberty Games's competition to find the best home bar of 2020, with the prize of a year’s supply of free beer.
Entries have been coming in from across the country with people showing off their at-home bar set up.
The competition closes on June 30, to enter visit the Liberty Games website.
