Bobbing along for Apple Day fun
A special event at Walsall Arboretum celebrated all things apples.
The Apple Day celebration is organised annually by the Walsall Arboretum User Group and took place on Saturday(19).
Apples were taken from the arboretum's orchard, before hospitality students from Walsall College cooked and baked goods – including soups, pies, apple turnovers, and pork and apple sauce.
Visitors could take part in a variety of apple-based games including apple fishing and apple bobbing, while children could have a go at making apple juice on a juice bike.
Hundreds attended the event, which is part of an annual celebration of apples and orchards. Apple Day is celebrated mainly in this country and traditionally falls on October 21.
Fiona Macmillan, chairman of the Walsall Arboretum User Group, said: "We had a great day and the rain held off for us which was great.
"We had picked the apples from the orchard in the arboretum, which then go to Walsall College's hospitality students – who make apple-based foods.
"There was also apple-themed games including fishing and apple bobbing. We also had a juicing bike so children could have a go at that.
"The event is organised by the Walsall Arboretum User Group and we usually get a couple of hundred of people attend.
"It was a good day all round."
