Suede nightclub in Bridge Street has been taken over after a home-town businessman swooped in to snap it up.

The club had been on the market for weeks with a £75,000 price tag. However it is not known what the value of the final deal was.

Daniel Walker announced the news via Facebook and said he and business partner Daniel Bijou Matto were ‘excited’ for a new business venture.

He said: “After five years away from Walsall I’m happy to announce I have taken over Suede Bar & Nightclub (the old Revolution bar) in Walsall with Daniel Bijou Matto.

“We’re excited for this new business venture and after a meeting with the current promoters we’re looking forward to providing some big events for the town.”

Daniel grew up in Walsall and attended Birmingham City University where he studied business management.

But he said he was delighted to be back working in the centre of his hometown.

The nightclub in Bridge Street – formerly the Revolution bar – went up for sale at the end of June with a price tag of £75,000.

The 9,060sq ft club stayed up and running during the sale process, but the new owners now have big plans to see it become the new night time hotspot in Walsall.

Councillor Eileen Russell, who represents the St Matthews area – where Bridge Street is located – for Walsall Council said it was good news the club would see a new owner take charge: “Young people in Walsall need something to do. And that area can be quite neglected so it’s good to have something that will spruce it up.

“There isn’t much activity there at the moment, very little happens.”

Rightmove property experts revealed that the club had undergone a ‘major and expensive’ refurbishment with ‘state-of-the-art’ sound systems installed.
