Rachel Goodyear will be hosting Catching Sight at the town gallery from May 26 to September 3.

There will be a preview held on Thursday May 25 from 6pm to 8pm.

The exhibition celebrates a brand new body of work. Though still rooted in her love of drawing, her new works introduce a greater freedom of experimentation with a range of materials such as ink, watercolour and collage as well as pencil and charcoal.

Her figures are sourced from old magazines, books and anonymous photographs.

For her exhibition in Walsall, Goodyear’s new installation will incorporate projected animations and a musical score.

Commissioned by The New Art Gallery Goodyear has worked in collaboration

with video editor Jamie Robinson (KHOM Visual) and musicians Sam Weaver andOtto Willberg to create an installation that brings her drawings to life.

Goodyear has also created a limited edition of 50 lithographs which are available to purchase.

On July 22 at 3pm Goodyear will participate in a special event at the gallery which will combine a tour of the exhibition by the artist and curator, Deborah Robinson, and a performance by musicians.
