Sophie Bullock, age 12, is a film, TV and theatre actress, singer and dancer from Aldridge. She has now received the official laurel for her role in the short psychological thriller film Toppy.

The film itself has also received several Laurel Awards and has been submitted to many more film festivals, including the Birmingham Film Festival, which Sophie also attended last year.

Sophie said: “I am really really excited about receiving this amazing laurel award for Best Child Actor, especially for my first film.

“I am also really pleased that Toppy has received a few laurels so far too. I am looking forward to seeing progress at future festivals and particularly keeping everything crossed that Toppy is accepted for the Birmingham Film Festival later this year as I had such an amazing time there last year and absolutely loved networking with everybody there.”

Sophie plays the lead child role Freya in Toppy, which was produced by Howard Smith Productions.

The film is currently shown on Vimeo and Thundr and its cast and crew details are also listed on the film-lovers encyclopaedia the Internet Movie Database (IMDB). Sophie also has her own profile on the site, listed here.

She was also cast for three theatre productions prior to lockdown.

During lockdown, Sophie has been keeping busy on numerous projects.

She said: “I have been involved in many acting and singing projects, ranging from participation with other actors in the official Six The Musical Cast Actors Together Music Video singing for charity, writing and performing a poem with my brother and singing in a music video for a production company raising awareness for abused children and the NSPCC, plus lots more.”

Sophie has now signed a contract with BBC iPlayer to appear in the series of Mimi On A Mission Lockdown Party.
