Wolverhampton drama group receives cash boost
An amateur dramatics group has received funding from a regional housebuilder to help purchase key stage equipment.
Tettenhall Amateur Players has been handed £1,000 from Persimmon Homes West Midlands as part of its Community Champions scheme. Each month the housebuilder donates up to £1,000 each to two groups or individuals in the local area.
Established six years ago, the drama group has gained a reputation for high-quality performances, having won the National Operatic and Dramatic Association best drama in 2018. The funding will be used to help purchase sound and lighting equipment.
Deborah Frost, who applied for the funding on behalf of Tettenhall Amateur Players, said: “We launch two productions a year but prohibitive costs of local suppliers for sound and lighting rentals mean we would like to obtain our own equipment. Financial support for such equipment would bolster our capabilities. We are extremely thankful to Persimmon Homes West Midlands for the donation.”

The group's next production is Harvey by Mary Chase, from April 7 to 10 at Perton Park Golf Club.
