Dancers from colleges, schools and community dance groups have taken part in the Dudley Performing Arts Spring Festival on Thursday at Dudley’s town hall.

Chris Jones, head of Dudley Performing Arts, said: “It was fantastic.

“There were some really high standard groups and it is brilliant to have a diverse group of people and standards from across the area.”

The style of dance ranged from contemporary to street and featured some tap dancing, more modern styles and creative performances.

Mr Jones said: “It was part of Dudley Performing Arts Spring Festival which is held over three weeks.

“It’s a festival for over 1,000 children who dance, sing or play musical instruments who live or go to school in Dudley.

“It involves people who have been taking part for only a few weeks through to people who are going to go to music college next year.

“We at Dudley Performing Arts work with about 10,000 children each year and we believe that the arts are for everyone and we hope that the festival inspires people to get involved.

Dudley Performing Arts’ next event will be a contemporary festival which will be held at Dudley Town Hall on March 19.

There will be a ‘huge’ gala music concert at Dudley’s town hall in June and the event will hope to involve all of Dudley’s secondary schools.
