Our Trace is in talks with Britain’s Got Talent bosses about appearing in the new series

Scouts from Britain’s Got Talent have headhunted the Black Country comedian to appear on series 12 of the hit ITV show after a video of her performing went viral online, viewed more than two million times.

Now Tracey Rhodes, better known to her fans by her stage name Our Trace, could face Simon Cowell and the other judges on the BGT panel when the new series hits our screens in April. The 55-year-old mother-of-one, from Four Ashes, near Wolverhampton, is in talks with show bosses but said she is perfectly happy with her life away from the spotlight.

She said comedy has always been a hobby alongside her day job as a mental health link worker. But things have changed dramatically after a video of her performing in Birmingham was posted on Facebook, attracting dozens of comments saying she was funnier than the likes of Peter Kay and Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown.

She said: “They approached me asking me if I wanted to go on. I was amazed. I couldn’t believe it. I did a show in Birmingham and someone videoed me and put it on Facebook.

“I looked on Facebook and saw all these comments come up. I was overwhelmed. It has been viewed in Australia, New Zealand and Spain. "

Tracey said she had been staggered by the response to her online and was stunned when she had the call from Britain's Got Talent.

"Because my comedy is so cutting-edge, you are never going to please everybody, she added.

"I haven't got stars in my eyes, I have got my feet firmly on the floor."
