The touring ballet company is re-imagining John Boyne’s best-selling novel in a heart-breaking brand new production.

The first full-length dance adaptation of this world famous story, will take place in Wolverhampton at the Grand Theatre on May 30 and 31.

Telling the story of an unlikely friendship blossoming through the disturbing events of World War II, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas sees a child’s innocent curiosity lead to a devastating conclusion.

Previously adapted for a 2008 film by Miramax, this world-first dance adaptation will be choreographed by Northern Ballet’s Artistic Associate Daniel de Andrade.

It will feature an original score by Oscar-nominated composer Gary Yershon, sets and costumes designed by Mark Bailey and lighting by Tim Mitchell, with Dramatic Coach Patricia Doyle also joining the creative team.

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas will be the second of an unprecedented three full-length world premières to be held by Northern Ballet in 2017 following the World Première of Casanova in March 2017 and the upcoming World Première of The Little Mermaid in September 2017.

Northern Ballet will also present a children’s ballet, Goldilocks and The Three Bears on May 31 at 12:30 and 2:30pm.

Tickets cost £11.50 for The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and £8.50 for Goldilocks and The Three Bears are now on sale now and can be booked in person at the box office, online at grandtheatre.co.uk or by calling 01902 42 92 12.
