Britain's Got Talent stars to take to stage at Tamworth Assembly Rooms

Britain's Got Talent favourites the D-Day Darlings and Colin Thackery will be starring at the Tamworth Assembly Rooms when its doors safely to visitors, audiences and performers, over the next coming months.

The Assembly Rooms team have been working hard to make the venue Covid safe including the installation of plastic screens to separate open areas, a mobile app for ordering drinks at the bar so you don’t have to queue and reduced capacity of 75 per cent for the first run of shows, to ensure a safe introduction back to theatre performances.

Britain’s Got Talent finalists the D-Day Darlings and the D-Day Juniors will star in the first show reopening on June 27.

They will be joined by the 2019 Britain’s Got Talent winner, Thackery, for an evening of song, including classics from the World War eras and original songs from The D-Day Juniors.

Tickets for the show are now on sale, along with many more performances including legendary Status Quo lead singer Francis Rossi, for an intimate evening of chat and music on July 2.

The Best of Take That tribute will take place on July 8, Soul and Motown classic tunes will be on July 27 with Soul Train and West End stars from Les Miserables, The Barricade Boys, join the stage on August 5.

World class tribute act ‘MJ The Legacy’, will be performing on August 13, followed by the incredible ‘Boogie Williams’ and his smoking hot piano performing the hits of rock and roll legend ‘Jerry Lee Lewis’, with special guests including Richard Day as Johnny Cash.

To complete the August summer line-up, Ariana Grande and JoJo Siwa tribute will showcase an afternoon performance on August 28, followed by T.Rextasy who will rock the night away with their flamboyant and glam rock tribute.

Adey Ramsel, theatre, artistic and events manager at Tamworth Borough Council, said: “We’re delighted to announce that we shall soon be opening our doors safely to visitors and can’t wait to welcome audiences back to our amazing theatre venue.

“It’s been a really tough year in the industry, but now there is finally light at the end of the tunnel.

" We’re taking reduced capacity booking for our first shows and getting ready to open our venue to offer entertainment and refreshments, whilst following all current Covid guidelines.

“The D-Day Darlings are set to relaunch our entertainment programme with their concert on June 27.

“We’re gradually adding to the programme now, so please do keep an eye on the website for updates and new shows in the coming weeks, and even more importantly, please get booking. We can’t wait to have the theatre filled with the sounds of music, singing and laughter again.”
