Website ukgroupdeals is offering a park ticket and fast-track combination for £21.20, a supposed saving of £31.80 – 60 per cent.

The website claims more than 2,400 people have already bought the tickets from the website, but Alton Towers has categorically stated that the tickets are a scam and not affiliated with the Staffordshire theme park.

A spokesman said on Twitter: "We're aware of this scam circulating the web on 'ukgroupdeals'. This is NOT official or affiliated with Alton Towers Resort in any way."

Concerns have been raised about ukgroupdeals by many users.

The company claims to be based in London, but the phone number listed on its spelling error-strewn website does not connect.

Scamadvisor, a website that lets you know whether a website is fraudulent or not, states about ukgroupdeals: "This website is very new, and as such doesn't have an online reputation yet.

"As with all new businesses, we suggest that you take care and if necessary get in contact with the owners before placing an order of value.

"This site is using an anonymous service - which prevents us from identifying the site owner.

"This can sometimes be just so that the owner does not receive spam, but be aware that many scam sites use this as a method to hide their identify.

"If this is an ecommerce site – we would suggest you confirm the business address with the website owners."
