Black Country night out to help raise cash to honour Dandy cartoonist
Music acts and performers from the Black Country will be taking to the stage for a fundraising gig.
Performer Brian Dakin, whose goes by the stage name Billy Spakemon, is showcasing acts from his Omma N Chain radio show next week.
It will take place on November 18 at the Zion Reform Church Hall, in Langley Green Road, Langley.
The Buskin' For Charlie event will try and raise funds for the book Billy is writing on the life of cartoonist Charlie Grigg.
Mr Grigg sketched the famous comic characters Desperate Dan and Korky the Cat, seen by generations of children, for more than 20 years.
He was also responsible for creating the front covers of the Dandy’s annuals between 1966 and 1987, which went on sale every Christmas.
He died aged 97 in 2013.
The free event runs from 1pm to 4pm.
People can leave donations if they wish towards the book which will be released in April.
All profits to groups connected with Alzheimers care.
Mr Dakin will also also stage a show at the same venue on December 19 from 7pm.
The Omma N Chain Show presents father and son act Paul and Oscar Beadle.
The multi-talented musicians and singer songwriters will be supported by John Langford and Scott Eeles.
