Amy is hoping to make a big noise with silent disco

She hopes that people across the world will join her in donning headphones to listen and dance to their favourites songs.

Amy, 28, from Wednesbury, said: "It is the most ridiculous and ambitious idea ever from one silly girl sat in Walsall.

"But for many 2020 was a bit of a rubbish year.

"Plans had to be cancelled, lots of people were unable to see their friends or family and each day blurred into the next.

"I want to try lift peoples spirits by being silly and spreading some smiles.

"The aim is to boost morale on a global scale and raise some funds for Mind UK.

"With the news becoming more and more serious each day, we need a tonic to counteract that and inject some fun back into our lives."

She is trying to persuade people to don their headphones and take part in a Silent Disco at 12pm on March 6 whether they are at home, in their garden or elsewhere but obeying rules and restrictions because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

She said: "Last week I was in Birmingham and heard the song "Walking on Sunshine" and started to dance and people began to smile.

"I realise people have been struggling because of the restrictions and being unable to plan things and decided to try to organise the silent disco to make people smile.

"This will not be a gathering and people can join in at home, in the garden or wherever."

She intends visiting Victoria Square in Birmingham and hopes that on March 6 people will set aside time to join in and help raise vital funds for the charity by donating £2 through a GoFundMe page.

Amy has set of target of raising £500 for the charity but hopes to do even better if she can get the world up and dancing.
