Jenny Ball, who appeared on the popular television programme in 2017 aged 26, went viral during lockdown after a video of her singing Michael Jackson's We Are The World during the weekly Clap For Carers was viewed by thousands.

Jimmy Andrews, 34, owner of Talk of The Town bar in Halesowen, reached out to the Lancashire singer through Facebook and asked if she would perform at a fundraising event.

He said: "This is the first fundraiser we have held at Talk of The Town, it was to raise money for Russells Hall Hospital's AMU Unit to buy them a new TV and towards private treatment of a young woman called Paige McKenzie who was diagnosed with cancer during lockdown.

"I saw Jenny's video on YouTube supporting the NHS and thought it was a good way to bring people together during this difficult time at the moment.

"Jenny said she would perform for us and drove more than three hours to get here."

The event was held on Sunday, October 4, as well as Jenny's performance staff also sold tickets for a raffle.

Many of the prizes have been donated by local businesses, and the top prize is a £250 Asda voucher with winners being drawn next weekend.

Jimmy, who has had bars since 2015, added: "Fundraising is in my blood, me and my friend Amy Hughes, who works at Russells Hall, have hosted a number of charity events over 10 years.

"During lockdown, my daughter came up with the idea of donating all of the bar snacks to the hospital that would go out of date while we were closed."

Upcoming events at Talk of The Town can be found on its Facebook page or by calling them on 0121 448 1881.
