Wolverhampton grime artist hopes to inspire others through illness
A Wolverhampton musician with cerebral palsy has released a new single.
Grime MC Akes released I Par with Da Best last week featuring fellow Birmingham artist Deadly R3AL.
A prominent member of the local rap scene, Akes released bashment hit Know Wagwarn earlier this tear.
Deriving his stage name from the aches caused by his lifelong cerebral palsy condition, the young wordsmith has always hoped to inspire people in a similar position.
The Black Country artist has said he hopes his story will 'resonate with other disabled youngsters, showing them that they can chase their dreams even when the odds seem stacked against them.'
Leading by example, he’s carved a name for himself as one of his city’s most versatile musicians, earning the respect of radio royalty including 1Xtra’s DJ Target, Sian Anderson and Nick Bright.
Particularly renowned for his grime output, he’s worked with some of the genre’s biggest names including BPI Gold-certified producer Preditah, N.A.S.T.Y Crew legend Nasty Jack and the inimitable Flirta D, and has released two grime EPs to date – 2014’s War and 2018’s Sickwidit.
I Par With Da Best is out now via streaming services.
