South Staffs Musical Theatre Company released A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square to mark the celebrations.

The song was originally written in 1939 by Eric Maschwitz and Manning Sherwin, and became a popular romantic ballad in wartime Britain.

Two of the company's leading ladies, Abbie Rai and Natasha Ince, perform the popular song for the single. Natasha also produced and mixed the music video.

The company is also currently asking for donations to The Well Food Bank in Wolverhampton through their Fundsurfer page.

South Staffs Musical Theatre Company chairperson Alison Norton said: "At a time when food banks are under even more pressure than usual to feed people in need, we feel it is even more important than normal to help.

"So, our members will be posting a variety of their favourite songs, both musical theatre and popular, over the next few weeks on our public Facebook page and a variety of other media platforms and encouraging people to donate.

"We decided to start with the VE Day song to start it off as it seemed topical at the moment.

"We have set ourselves a small target of just £500 to begin with, but are hoping to make much more.

"For just £175 The Well can purchase a pallet of food which will keep their supplies up.

"If we can buy several of these pallets for them, it would be amazing.

"Also, £2,500 will pay for the running of their warehouse for one month and £670 will pay for the running of their three vans for one month."
