Wolverhampton rapper battling knife crime with music
A young rapper from Wolverhampton who turned his life around through his passion for music hopes to fight knife crime with his new music video.
Tristan Bexton, aged 18, from Bushbury, is beginning to make a name for himself in the Midlands grime and hip hop scene.
He is hoping to use his music for good and discourage other young people from carrying a knife.
Tristan said: "The name of the song is The Truth, and it will portray a positive message telling the younger generation that carrying knives is not the right way to go.
"I wrote this song as I feel this is something that definitely needs to be brought up as it's getting worse, not just in Wolverhampton but everywhere you go, but I thought being a rapper from Wolverhampton, people would look up to me and listen to me and I'd be the perfect person to do this."
For the music video Tristan is collaborating with producer ShadownOnTheBeat and Apex Pro.
"Working with ShadowOnTheBeat is a dream come true, I used to listen to him when I was in school," Tristan added.
"I think the song is going to have the positive impact I’m looking for as there are many rappers being featured in the video.
"I'm hoping to raise awareness, not just in my community, but I want it to hit a much larger area of the West Midlands."
The video has been filmed at Asylum Studios in the city centre and will be released on Tristan's YouTube channel, theofficialt.b, in a few weeks.
