Watch: Hundreds queue new Birmingham restaurant's burrito giveaway
Hundreds have lined the streets for the opening of a new Mexican restaurant in Birmingham and celebrated the occasion with a free burrito.
300 Burritos were given away at Boojum as it opened its doors at 12pm today (Thursday, November 21).
Queues were seen heading out the door onto New Street, Birmingham City Centre as West Midlands foodies rushed to get their hands on a freebie.
Boojum prides itself on its high-quality, ‘live out loud food’ and is best renowned for its Burrito Bowl, which is the number six top trending dish globally on Deliveroo and rated number one in all Mexican food on the takeaway platform.
Pictures released by the restaurant have also shown the freshly decorated venue ahead of the grand opening.
Boojum Head of Operations, Rob Powell, said: "Following our huge Leeds opening earlier this year, we're very excited to announce the launch date of our Birmingham restaurant. Our team has been working hard over the last few months to create our new space and we can’t wait to shake up the food scene in Brum and welcome everyone from Thursday 21st November.
"To celebrate we will be handing out free burritos to the first 300 diners through the doors from 12pm, so we’d advise customers to get there early to make sure you don’t miss out.”
Boojum first hit the scene in Belfast in 2007, making serious waves in the Irish food game with its killer menu consisting of burritos, bowls, nachos, tacos, and freshly made chips and salsas.
The brand now has 19 stores across Ireland and GB and has become the go-to for bold, flavourful Mexican eats that pack a punch. Birmingham is the brand's third GB site, after Leeds and Nottingham.
