Event organisers have come together with Sandon Hall in Staffordshire and created a drive-in entertainment venue for 165 cars per screening.

Together with Digbeth Dining Club they will create a 10 week long festival of film, with live entertainment and street food.

With Covid-19 restrictions still in place there are drive in cinemas launching all over the UK but most run for only a weekend.

The Great British Drive In will run six days a week over the summer with a varied program.

The audio plays through an FM transmitter so will play through the car radio or any portable radio. All events are ticketed which can be booked on the website TheGBDriveIn.com

There will be a free screening on July 11, of the award winning documentary Chasing Coral, tickets available on the website on a first come first served basis.

Organiser Craig Wilkinson said: "There is something for everyone in this program of events and it really is a summer festival of great film and entertainment and great food to be enjoyed safely in your car or if the weather is great bring your deck chairs and enjoy it outside of your car.

"If you want to laugh we have comedy, if you want to entertain the kids out of the house we’ll keep them entertained. We have bollywood, hollywood and some of the most important documentaries created to educate, enlighten and become more aware of the world around us that we may not otherwise be exposed to.

"To be able to experience these films and events against the stunning back drop of Sandon Hall is a real treat and promises to be an excellent experience for all.

"We are also delighted to be working with Digbeth Dining Club on our food offering Thursday’s through to Sunday’s.

"DDC have deservedly created a great reputation for excellence and quality in the dining industry and we are really excited to be collaborating with them on The Great British Drive In."

The organisers will also be using their new online temporary staffing app they have been working on during lockdown to staff the event izero.work if people are interested in working at the event, email info@TheGbDriveIn.com for more details.

The first three weeks are programmed and available on the website.
